Baby Sheep Cake Pops

baby sheep cake pops

Cake pop fun continues… In the series of animal cake pops that I recently created for a little girl’s birthday party, these are my absolute favourites!

The popping big eyes make it an adorable caricature of a baby sheep, don’t they? ┬áThese poor babies only have front legs but you can definitely give them all 4 legs and even a tail using little pieces of chocolate buttons.

Again the cake balls are made from cocoa cake and cream cheese frosting. You could of course use any other cake crumbs such as vanilla cake.

You can find vanilla cake pops recipe here.

For 10 baby sheep cake pops you need:

  • 10 cake balls
  • 10 lollipop sticks
  • 20 candy eyeballs
  • 10 pink heart shaped sugar sprinkles
  • 20 white heart shaped sugar sprinkles
  • 20 chocolate buttons
  • 150 grams white chocolate
  • white pearlised sugar sprinkles
Melt the white chocolate and attach candy eyeballs to flat side of chocolate button with a drop of melted chocolate.

Then by applying a drop of melted chocolate using toothpick, attach the white hearts upside down on top of the eyes
Dip a lollipop stick in melted white chocolate and insert in the cake balls gently pushing up to middle so that you can feel it sits firmly on the stick. Allow the chocolate to harden and cut the remaining chocolate buttons into small pieces to be used in legs and tail (optional).

Carefully dip the cake ball into melted white chocolate,, tap off the excess chocolate and quickly apply the decorated chocolate button and chocolate pieces for legs and sprinkle with white pearlised sprinkles. Place in a cake pop holder and leave to dry.
