Funnel Cakes

funnelcake2Continuing with fried 1st of May desserts here’s my this year’s funnel cakes dressed in pink and yellow colored powdered sugar, I am including the steps I took to color the sugar under the recipe.

Ingredients 

  • 2 eggs
  • 100ml milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 200g plain flour
  • oil for deep frying
  • 80g powdered sugar
  • food coloring yellow & red
  1. Place the eggs in a mixing bowl and whisk then add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  2. Heat the oil to 200ºC
  3. Place the batter in a piping bag and start piping in thin string forming a round nest.funnelcake
  4. Once the bottom of the funnel cake is done turn it around to fry the other half.funnelcake1
