4 Cheese Soufflé

First dish in the finished new kitchen, low carb cheese souffle made with a blend of some of our favorite cheeses; Edam, Emmental, Parmesan and Gouda. I’ve made many sweet souffles before, first savory and it’s my new favorite, cheesy and full of flavor. I will definitely do some other versions of cheese souffles in the weeks to come.

Baking Music

Baking Music – J’y Suis Jamais Alle

New post series at BIP,  from today I will start sharing links to songs I listen to while baking. To start with, here’s one I love to listen to while making French macarons. I earlier shared a mix version, here’s the version from the lovely French movie, Amélie. Yann Tiersen – J’y Suis Jamais Alle

Red Grapefruit Macarons and BIP is back!

The long process of moving and kitchen renovations that have kept me from baking the last few weeks, are nearly finished and I’m very excited to start this new chapter in our new home and inspiring new kitchen. You will see an improvement in pictures, as from now on all images will be taken with my new compact art maker, Canon S120. Hope you’ll enjoy!

Vote for the next macaron flavour at BIP!

Okay, it’s been a while since I last posted here, and it’s still gonna take a while before my new kitchen is ready. While excitingly waiting I started planning the new flavours… Here are some that I’ve been thinking of. Butterfly macarons attempt #1

Butterfly macarons attempt #1

Two weeks ago in middle of moving boxes and only few hours before we started packing the kitchen, I decided to do one last batch of macarons, in that kitchen. For the last 18 months that kitchen was the heart of our home, I spent there most of the time I’d be at home and naturally left it to be packed last. Earlier that day I was […]

Spinach & Halloumi Quiche

Spinach & Halloumi Quiche

Spinach has a flavor I find hard to describe, let’s say it’s a strong green flavor that goes well with salty cheeses. Halloumi is a mild salty Cypriot cheese, there are some versions that taste saltier than other, yet less salty than feta, that I usually use in spinach quiche. Although I prefer halloumi paired with mint leaves it’s nice with spinach leaves too, especially […]

Vanilla Cake Pops

Posting with delay though I wasn’t too busy to bake last week, I did not manage to sit in front of a computer, such a hectic week behind and more to come… I won’t be posting that frequently in the coming weeks but the normal baking and blog activity will resume by end of September latest. Here’s some vanilla flavored cake pops with simple design. […]

Whole Wheat Carrot Buns
Savoury

Whole Wheat Carrot Buns

What’s better than warm home made breakfast buns? If you ask me, wholesome carrot buns fresh from the oven. This time I did use some plain flour too, so they aren’t 100% whole wheat but still wholesome 🙂

Hello Kitty Pancakes

Hello Kitty Pancakes

Fun from the morning, such an easy way to make a simple pancake look cute.  I started off with pan too hot and my first kitties got too dark as you can see from the 3rd picture, then I lowered the heat and extended the cooking time to keep the contrast between the batters, still all cooked through.

Rum Baba Flower

Rum Baba Flower

I was recently given a challenge to make a savarin cake, while I’m still practicing on yeast cakes I gave a second try for Rum Babas or Baba Au Rhums and nailed the texture by working with KitchenAid dough hook rather than kneading by hand. I soaked the cakes after slightly cooled down, next time I would want to wait longer and soak in hot syrup […]

Hello Kitty Macarons

Hello Kitty Macarons

This is the third time I make Hello Kitty macarons, I absolutely love making them, so much fun  and they are adored by both kids and adults. The past week me and my husband have been inspired by Japanese food and Hello Kitty being a global phenomenon from Japan seemed like a perfect treat for the end of the week. 🙂

Pizza Dough

Pizza Dough

Making pizza is fun and definitely one of my favorite thing with pizza is trying out new methods for a perfect pizza crust. I often use whole wheat flour but today I went all white with “00” flour which is extra-fine, soft flour, low in protein content. I can’t get it in my normal grocery store but you can find it in any store selling Italian […]

Football Cheesecake

Football Cheesecake

Tomorrow is the World Cup final 2014, though I’ve personally missed many of the games this year, I had to make a cake to fit the theme! I do not normally have access to licorice products such as the sauce I used here, Rainbow Lakritsikastike, this one I got as a special delivery from Finland and I’m so happy that it worked in this as […]

Apple Cinnamon Buns

Growing up I used to come home to smell of fresh cinnamon rolls every now and then knowing that I’d have a warm one waiting for me with a glass of cold milk, it was heaven! Now living abroad, whenever I get to eat a cinnamon roll or even better a Finnish “slap on the ear”, I feel like home :). This is my first […]

Mocha Squares

Easy yummy dessert, in this version the cake is less sweet and gets it’s kick from the topping. White Chocolate & Blueberry Souffle

White Chocolate & Blueberry Souffle

On my way home today I got the idea for a new quick dessert using frozen blueberries, which by the way taste nothing like fresh blueberries I used to pick, eat and bake with back in Finland, but they are still better than no berries and blueberry-white chocolate combo always works. I used bigger ramekin than normally which makes the souffle look pretty flat and […]
